Ear ring of gold

This gold earring is a fine example of a piece of jewellery made under Greek influence. The presence of the head of a feline on one of the ends is a characteristic element. 

The object itself is made up of four beads - a green glass bead, a gilded ball, a white bead with brown stripes, and a second gilded ball, divided from each other by tiny discs and globules.

 The technique of granulation is a way of turning gold leaf into very tiny granules. The piece dates to the Ptolemaic Period.
